15+ Years Strong: The CableOne Story

July 18, 2026 6 min read Company

Every home connection tells a small story, a family settling in to watch the evening news, a student joining an online class, a small business processing payments over a stable internet line. Multiply that by tens of thousands of households, and you start to see the story CableOne has quietly been building since 2005.

How it started

CableOne Ltd was incorporated in Kenya in 2005 as a limited liability company, with a clear founding purpose: to provide digital television services to Kenyan households. The company is licensed by the Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) to operate both as a cable television provider and as an Internet Service Provider, a dual licence that shaped everything CableOne has built since.

Growing from cable TV to full connectivity

What began as a digital television operator has grown into a provider delivering more than 100 HD-quality cable TV channels alongside high-speed broadband internet across the country. That combination, entertainment and connectivity from a single, licensed provider, is what eventually shaped the WiFi, TV and Combo packages CableOne offers today.

  • Licensed by the Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK)
  • 100+ HD television channels
  • Home fibre WiFi packages across more than 50 Nairobi estates
  • Over 10,000 households connected

A mission rooted in access, not just entertainment

CableOne's mission has always gone beyond simply providing TV and internet: to deliver affordable and reliable high-quality nationwide wireless broadband that supports socio-economic development, creating employment and helping reduce poverty in the communities it serves.

Connectivity isn't just about watching your favourite channel, it's about the jobs, businesses and opportunities that a stable connection makes possible.

Working alongside government

CableOne works in conjunction with the Government of Kenya on delivering affordable, reliable, nationwide wireless broadband, part of a shared goal to enhance socio-economic development through better connectivity across the country, not just in major cities.

Where CableOne stands today

Today, CableOne is guided by Director Sachin Shaha, whose vision has been to transform Kenya's digital landscape through affordable, high-quality connectivity solutions. Under that direction, the company continues to expand its WiFi coverage across Nairobi estates while maintaining the TV subscription service that first put CableOne on the map back in 2005.

The vision going forward

CableOne's vision is straightforward: to be Kenya's leading provider of digital entertainment and connectivity, connecting every home and business to a world of possibilities, one fibre connection and one set-top box at a time.
